Filing Late Correction Appeals for Commercial Real Estate
You know that feeling you get when you forgot or missed out on something? It’s sometimes anger, sometimes frustration, and sometimes just plain annoyance. Well, I’m hoping to rid that feeling for some of you.
Although the normal appeal cycle for protesting a commercial real estate property’s appraised value may be past, property owners who missed the defined window to file an appeal may not necessarily have to pay the amount stated on their tax bills this year. The Texas Property Tax Code allows an owner to file a late correction appeal for a non-clerical appraised value error on his/her property prior to Feb. 1, 2014, which is the date taxes become delinquent.
