#TBT – Tax Season Trends in Review
Since social media enthusiasts have adopted the #TBT (“Throwback Thursday”) trend as a part of their weekly vocabulary, I’ve decided to join in and divulge the major trends in property taxes that I’ve observed in Dallas-Fort Worth over the past few years.
When we throw back to the 2014 property tax season that just concluded, surveys unanimously say that values are up. But during the last few years, we have essentially observed a rising tide theory. Following the Great Recession, we saw multifamily properties take the lead as the first one out of the gate for valuation increases, circa late 2011 and into 2012. Class-A office soon followed suit in 2013 when those properties received the larger valuation increases. And, you guessed it, this trend continued on.
