Travis ARB Upsets and Confuses Many After Calling for a Redo

Travis County Appraisal Review Board (ARB) calls for an official re-notification of all protest done on Wednesday June 4th causing frustrations on all sides. The explanation, if that is what you want to call it, is that there were many inconsistencies across the board and that it was a legal concern.

Many property owners and property tax consultants had already worked their properties with the ARB that day and are certainly not happy about having to redo all their hard work fighting for their values.

John Krueger from Five Stone Tax Advisers had something to share with them. According to KXAN, “He said at Tuesday’s hearing, the panels had heard 93 of his firm’s protests and his firm was successful in reducing the appraised property values of 80% of those people.  He estimates the total savings to their clients would be more than $82,438 in property taxes.”

Travis County Appraisal District started a new process this year which eliminated informal hearings in person and utilizes an online portal to essentially reduce TCAD’s foot traffic. Well looks like that idea didn’t go as planned.
